Plant-Based Future.
The year over a hundred people repeatedly, voluntarily risked arrest to put the dairy industry — and the future of food — on the national agenda.
The dairy blockades
Through 2022, more than 100 people repeatedly blockaded dairy distribution centres across the UK — including facilities supplying Müller, Arla, and Freshways. Supermarket shelves ran short of milk in parts of the country as the actions bit, and the industry’s dependence on a handful of chokepoints was laid bare.
Beyond the depots
The campaign reached far past the distribution network: actions at Trooping the Colour, Big Ben, and supermarket milk aisles across the country kept the demand — government support for a plant-based transition — in the public eye all year.
The price, and the point
Dozens of supporters faced trial for these actions in the years that followed — with juries repeatedly delivering acquittals, hung verdicts, and conditional discharges rather than the convictions prosecutors sought. Their willingness to stand in a dock and explain why turned every courtroom into another stage for the argument.
The transition still needs winning.
The plant-based future is the goal behind every campaign we run today.
